33 Street Photography Photos from Three Months in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam became my base this year, and a chance to stay in one spot during all my travel. That being said, I was only able to spend 3 months there so far before leaving to Europe for the summer. And some of that time was spent traveling outside the city. Still, 2+ months, while having an apartment in the heart of Saigon, gave me plenty of time to explore and photograph this lively city.

33 Street Photography Photos from One Week in Kathmandu, Nepal

After spending a month in India, I stopped in Kathmandu, Nepal before my full move to Vietnam. I had no trekking planned so I devoted all my time to exploring the city with my camera. After walking plenty of dusty dirt roads, narrow streets, and river banks, I was able to find some of the more interesting spots that you can’t find online. Kathmandu is a unique city with its own atmosphere of Nepalese culture, architecture, crumbling buildings, and dusty skies.

You need a little time to really discover the city outside of Thamel’s hippy tourist section, but it was worth all the walking. So here’s 33 photos that I was able to capture during my time in Kathmandu…

Mumbai was my last stop on my last trip to India. Not only did I spend some extra time here, but I was able to meet up with some talented local street photographers who helped show me around. Mumbai is so big and full of life that it feels like there are endless places to explore, but I packed in as much of the city as possible. For street photography, it’s as concentrated with action, character and variety of life as any city in the world.

33 Street Photography Photos from 3 Days in Hyderabad, India

On my way from Bangalore to Mumbai, I stopped in Hyderabad, India for a few days. From its rich history and culture to its royal architecture and amazing cuisine, there’s plenty to see and experience in Hyderabad. Many streets, especially in the Old City, take you back in time, while the city as a whole is in rapid growth with a booming tech industry. There’s a diverse mix of atmosphere to explore in Hyderabad if you have the time.

Unfortunately, some travel problems forced me to make a shorter stay than planned, so I was only able to spend three full days exploring the city with my camera, but I tried to make the most it. So here’s 33 photos that I was able to capture during my short time in Hyderabad…

During my recent trip to India, the rapidly growing city of Bangalore was my second stop after Chennai. For an Indian city, Bangalore brings a unique mix of cosmopolitan big city and the colorful, chaotic charm India is famous for. Parts of it are rivaled only by Mumbai for its development and the rapid growth you see and feel is unmatched. For street photography, it gives a variety of places to explore that can differ greatly in atmosphere too.

On my recent trip to India, Chennai was my first stop. Coming straight from Sri Lanka, I’d been shooting around beaches a lot lately, but Chennai took it to another level. I really enjoyed shooting within the city too, but Chennai’s massive urban beaches were something special with the unique atmosphere and scenes they provided. After getting some of Sri Lanka’s bigger city life in Colombo, I took a train down to Galle, where Dutch-colonial buildings blend with a tropical setting. Exploring the walled fort city inside and out provided plenty to see and capture, while giving a unique variety of life for a smaller touristic city. It was a nice, relaxing change of scene from Colombo too. So here’s some street photography I was able to capture during my few days in Galle…

Street Photography from 5 Days in Colombo, Sri Lanka

Marco Polo called Sri Lanka the finest island in the world and before the Sri Lankan Civil War, it was a top tourist destination in the world too. Since the civil war ended in 2009, it’s regaining all those visitors too. While most come for the beaches, rain forests, ancient sites and more, Colombo is the biggest city and main way on and off the island.

On some recommendations, I made sure to stay longer than most so I could really get a feel for this city, and I’m glad I did. It was one of the better street photography experiences I’ve had. I loved the mix of urban city, island life, chaos and friendly people. 33 Street Photography Photos from 2 Days in Casablanca, Morocco

I finished off my visit to Morocco flying out of Casablanca. While Casablanca is the biggest city in Morocco, not many stay longer than it takes to fly in and out. Most visitors come here for all the other cities in Morocco, but you don’t hear anybody recommend visiting Casablanca. Since it is a large, well-known city, I wanted to see how deserving this was so I decided to leave a couple of days to explore the city before I left Morocco.

While it was easy to see why it’s not high on the list for travelers to Morocco, I did find it worth exploring for street photographers. At first impression, it’s a somewhat ugly, charmless sprawl of an urban city. Deteriorating and dirty without many attractions. There isn’t much info online so I really had to discover the city on my own, by foot. I found underneath this uninspiring exterior, there was plenty of life and interest to capture. I enjoyed the urban city side of Morocco and while it’s not pretty, there’s still some character there for street photography.

I only had 2 days here so it didn’t give me much opportunity to capture as many photos as usual, but I still wanted to keep with 33 photos series theme, anyway. So here’s 33 street photography photos from 2 days in Casablanca, Morocco…

33 Street Photography Photos from 3 Days in Chefchaouen, Morocco

After Fes, I took a long bus ride up through the Rif mountains to spend a few days in Chefchaouen, Morocco. The small mountain town of Chefchaouen is famous for its rich history, architecture, beautiful surroundings and most of all, the blue rinse covering everything in sight.

While many of Morocco’s well-known cities are filled with chaos, Chefchaouen is a relaxing escape. It’s also one of the more unique and picturesque cities I’ve been to. So here’s 33 photos that I was able to capture during my time in Chefchaouen…
