Next-Up-Berlin-+-Eastern-Europe-COVER

Shooter Files is going on the Eastern European Road

So I’m not moving from Istanbul, but I will be on the road for a couple of months. It looks to be a busy couple months too. My trip starts in Berlin, Germany and from there I’ll be going through parts of Eastern Europe on my way back down to Istanbul. In the middle of all that, I’ll also be traveling to Rome.

Since I will be taking you all along with me to each city I travel in for Street Photography and work, here’s a quick overview of where we’ll be for the next couple months!

Side Street Series: The Cable Car City of Chiatura

chiatura-cover

*Side Street Series ventures off the beaten city streets. Many times, the photography ventures away from Street Photography too.

The Cable Car City of Chiatura

One of the highlights of my trip to Tbilisi, Georgia was actually a place outside of Tbilisi. A city like no city I’ve been to before, but one most people have never heard of.

Chiatura, Georgia

So What’s So Unique About It?

33 Street Photography Photos That Will Make You Visit Tbilisi, Georgia

33-photos-tbilisi-cover

I had an amazing experience visiting Tbilisi, Georgia a few weeks ago. It’s not a place on everyone’s radar to visit yet, but it’s starting to become one. And for good reason too. The city is unique, the scenery is interesting,  the people are friendly, the food is great and there’s so much more to see and do if you want to venture outside of Tbilisi too. You could easily spend months visiting the beautiful mountain villages all over Georgia, but for Street Photography, Tbilisi is worth a visit on its own.

Tbilisi has cobblestone streets and old churches throughout old town, but you can also capture the more modern side of the growing Tbilisi too around Freedom Square and Rike Park. Then there’s the street markets all over the city that give endless action for photography, especially around Station Square. It’s a city you can just get lost in walking its streets. Georgia is also the reigning birthplace of wine so with that history, you know it’s got to be good.

If you want to capture a city like you haven’t seen before, then Tbilisi would be a great choice. Here are 33 street photos that I took during my visit to Tbilisi, Georgia.

33 Street Photography Photos That Will Make You Want To Visit Istanbul

33-ISTANBUL-COVER

I’ve been staying in Istanbul, Turkey for the last couple months now and living here has been an experience like no other city I’ve been to before. Istanbul is a mix of so many characteristics, it’s hard to put it all into words. It’s just a place you need to experience for yourself.

When it comes to capturing life, there’s not many cities with as much of it as Istanbul. I always have my camera on me here and spend most of my days walking the many districts seeing what I can capture. Istanbul would definitely make my top cities in the world list so here are some Street Photos I’ve taken so far that will hopefully give you a look into why it’s a place you need to visit too.

33 Street Photography Photos That Will Make You Want To Visit India

INDIA-COVER

Last year I had the chance to spend 6 weeks all over India. The country is an experience like none other. The sights, sounds, smells and feeling of the place can put all of your senses into overload compared to most countries.  So many things are always happening right in front of you and I loved it.

One thing that really makes the unique experience of India is how everything happens outside. Everybody is constantly outside living their lives. People bathing and brushing their teeth by the street water pumps, street barbers cutting hair on every other block, food and shop stands lining every street, and children running everywhere you look. Life is all around you.

The constant chaos in much of India makes for great Street Photography opportunities too. There’s never a lack of people, sights, moments, action, color or anything else you’d want to capture. Everywhere you look it seems like there’s a photo to be made.

Here’s 33 Street Photography photos I took in my spare time around India.

“A Shooter in…”
Street Photographer & City Series

A-SHOOTER-IN-COVER

I’m excited to announce a new series I will be working on here at Shooter Files that will cover Street Photographers and their Cities. The series will showcase great Street Photographers based in different cities around the world, with a focus on Street Photography in their own backyard from their individual perspectives. No one knows their own cities in the same way as a Street Photographer that lives and breathes its streets daily.

Some of the topics the series will cover from each Street Photographer on their city:

  • Favorite shooting spots
  • City shooting tips
  • Favorite things to shoot in their city
  • Things they like most about shooting in their city
    • And anything they don’t like
  • Safety concerns and personal experience with reactions
  • Personal Street Photography stories
  • Favorite non-shooting activity when out walking the streets
  • Favorite place to shoot outside of their city
  • Favorite shots they’ve made in their city
  • And More!

I’m looking forward to this series as it should bring a nice mix of showcasing individual talent and street photography along with giving unique and knowledgeable perspectives on cities across the world. From the eyes of Street Photographers.

Stay tuned for the first installment coming soon!

Street Shot Sundays
Photo of the Week: “After the Rain”

shots of the week-4

Street Shot Sundays Story & Stats

Story:

This Sunday’s Street Shot of the Week was taken in the Tarlabaşı neighborhood of Beyoğlu in Istanbul. I was walking around the neighborhood when it suddenly started pouring rain. Everyone in the streets rushed to hide under the cover of sidewalk shop fronts while the rain came pouring down. The heavy rain only lasted around 5 minutes, but after it stopped I noticed two boys playing under a drain pipe as the roof top water dripped over them. The bright sun had just made it out from behind the clouds and shined directly on the boy’s face as the water splashed on him. So I took the shot just before they ran off down the street.

Stats:

  • Aperture: f/11
  • Shutter Speed: 1/350
  • ISO: 400
  • Focal Length: 35mm
