33 Street Photography Photos from 4 Days in Rome, Italy
I made a stop in Rome for the filming of Street Hunter’s new Street Hunt: Rome episode. While there, I enjoyed so much of what Rome has to offer, from amazing food to overwhelming history. It was a very packed 4 days, but thanks to everything that went into the Street Hunt: Rome episode, I was able to get in a good amount of Street Photography too.
So here are some Street Photos I took in Rome that will hopefully give you a look at what it’s like to shoot there…
7 First Impressions of Rome, Italy (From a Street Photography Perspective)
In the middle of my Eastern European Street Photography Tour, after Kraków and Prague, I had to make a detour to Rome, Italy to join the StreetHunters.net team for the filming of their new Street Hunt: Rome episode, which covers a Street Photography walk of Rome. This gave me the opportunity to be a part of scouting the city for production, be included as a Street Photographer in its filming, and spend some extra time there devoted to more Street Photography. We even had a local photographer to help guide us, which made experiencing this historic city that much better.
Rome is at the top of my list of cities because of all it has to offer and how much of it you can’t find anywhere else. Walking around Rome is truly an experience like no other. So here are my first impressions of Rome, from my personal Street Photography perspective…
Street Shot Sundays
Photo of the Week: “Ariccia Smiles”
Street Shot Sundays Story & Stats
Story:
This Sunday’s Street Shot of the Week was taken in Ariccia, Italy.
It was my last full day in Rome with the StreetHunters.net team after the filming of their Street Hunt: Rome episode. It was also a Sunday so our local friend and fellow photographer, Marcello Perino, decided to take us outside of Rome and into the Alban Hills for some city escape. Ariccia is a popular getaway spot for Romans because of it’s beauty, history and famous porchetta, a pork that is slowly roasted with herbs and wild fennel. So after putting our name down at one of the porchetta restaurants (The restaurants are filled with hungry day trippers on Sundays), we walked around the small, ancient town.
There’s an open space by a bridge at the top where you can get some amazing views of the countryside. I noticed this older woman happily wearing her sunglasses while relaxing by the scenery. There was also a smaller dog enjoying the scenery on top of the wall she was sitting by. So I got down lower and framed the photo to get both of them in the shot. She gave me a natural smile and said “grazie,” so I did the same.
Then we walked back down to the restaurant and I had an unforgettable lunch of porchetta, pasta and wine.

Street Shot Sundays
Photo of the Week: “One Leg”
Street Shot Sundays Story & Stats
Story:
This Sunday’s Street Shot of the Week was taken in Rome, Italy near Piazza Navona.
I was in Rome with the StreetHunters.net team for the filming of their Street Hunt: Rome episode. We were finishing up the day of shooting in one of my favorite spots in Rome, Piazza Navona, and I stepped outside of the square to see if I could find anything else before the sun set. I saw this woman standing by a wall, while searching through her phone. The way she was posted up on the wall gave the illusion that she had a missing leg. She had her foot up on the small screen vent, but her other leg completely hid everything, while her shirt covered enough to help finish the illusion.
I took a few shots at an angle that kept the illusion, while a man watched me intently. He obviously wondered what I was photographing and as I walked off, so did he. With an extremely confused look on his face.
Stats:
- Aperture: f/2.8
- Shutter Speed: 1/500
- ISO: 800
- Focal Length: 27mm

Another Street Hunt Episode
StreetHunters.net is one of the best Street Photography websites out there and one of the most unique things to come from the site are their Street Hunt Episodes. In these episodes, co-founder Spyros Papaspyropoulos produces a filmed Street Photography walk in cities around the world.
I was involved in their last episode in Istanbul, Turkey, where I’m currently based. You can check out more on that here and watch the episode too. It was such a great experience that Spyros asked me to be involved in their next episode in Rome, Italy. So I made a short detour to Rome during my Eastern Europe trip to make sure it happened.
