Quotes for the Streets: Andy Warhol’s Lesson – Don’t Worry, Make Art

“Don’t think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it’s good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they are deciding, make even more art.”

― Andy Warhol

This quote might be one of the most important lessons to success in photography.

What it doesn’t mean?

Where Travel & Street Meet:
A Photographic Journey Through India – Part 1: Kolkata

Kolkata, India 2014
Kolkata, India 2014

While I focus on Street Photography more now, I still love photography that would be considered more in the Travel category too. I also try to incorporate much of Street Photography into my Travel work because I love the authentic look of uncontrolled life. Here’s some of my personal travel work I shot in Kolkata, while working in India. (This is the 1st part of a 5 part series in India)

* “Master Profiles” is a series profiling all the great photographers of uncontrolled life. Unlike the rest of the blog, I’m doing these in a straight profile format to make it easy for quick access to facts, quotes and knowledge on all the masters. I’ll also group them together here every time I add a new one.

Profile:

Henri Cartier-Bresson (1908-2004)

How To Not Look Suspicious When Shooting Street Photography

Would the Invisible Man be the best Street Photographer ever? | Buenos Aires, Argentina
Would the Invisible Man be the best Street Photographer ever? | Buenos Aires, Argentina

Invisible or Suspicious?

Wanting to be invisible on the streets is something you hear a lot about in Street Photography. Unfortunately, I don’t see this super power becoming available anytime soon. In reality, attempting invisibility only makes you more visible.

A Day in the Streets: Portland

Lady in Red: Don't challenge her to a race

“A Day in the Streets” will be a recurring series following a regular day shooting the streets in different cities around the world during my travels. The focus of this is to show a normal, average day of street photography, so the photos will reflect that. 99% of your shots won’t be great so hopefully this will give a real representation of day-to-day shooting street photography in the city. Comment below if you find this series interesting or beneficial to you at all, or if you have any ideas to add to it!

What is Street Photography?

The meaning of the term Street Photography has become a debated topic and you can find personal definitions all over the internet. So since this is a Street Photography blog, here’s mine.
