I spent a month on photography work in Tokyo and had an unforgettable time exploring the unique culture and chaotic streets of the city in my spare time. While Tokyo has the skyscrapers, lights, and millions of people running around everywhere, just like it’s famous for, one of my favorite parts was the different neighborhoods it has too, each with its own vibe and character. Also, when it comes to people watching, it doesn’t get any better than here.
Tokyo is definitely a city I could live in and spend my days photographing its endless streets of life and lights. A month gave me some time to explore, but with so much to see and experience, I’d love to spend much more time in Tokyo in the future. Here’s 33 Street Photography photos I took in my spare time during my busy month in Tokyo.

If you ever want to capture a more personal side of people than candid Street Photography provides, you should get to know the people first. This could be for something as small as street portraits or as big as a project where you spend time documenting their lives and who they are.
How do you get to know people you’ve never met before and have them allow you to photograph them?

I recently stopped in Russia for a couple of weeks to visit some friends and to work on a small photography project with The Royal School of Russian Ballet. While I stayed pretty busy, mostly having an incredible time with friends, I did manage to make time for a little Street Photography in Saint-Petersburg and Moscow.
Saint-Petersburg has a magical feeling and I highly recommend adding it to your travel list. The architecture is beautiful and the canals throughout the city add to the European fairytale vibe. While they are both very large cities, Moscow definitely has much more of a big city cosmopolitan vibe.
I had an amazing time in Russia. It’s a unique place with plenty to experience and I’d love to visit again to really focus on Street Photography. Here’s 33 Street Photography photos I took in my spare time during my busy, but incredible 2 weeks in Russia.

Find the best spots to shoot, what to capture, safety concerns, street tips, and more for cities around the world. (I have personally shot Street Photography in every city that I create a guide for)

When traveling to a new city, everything you see is exciting. There’s so much that you’ve never seen before and new visual experiences are around every corner. So you take your camera and snap away at all these new sights that interest you.
While you’re finding interest in everything you see, you should also ask yourself a couple of questions, though…
Am I finding it interesting because it’s new to me or because it’s actually interesting?
Would somebody who lives here find it interesting too?
Many times we can confuse new with interesting.

When I started traveling, backpacking was always the way I went. I love the freedom it gives you and I feel it helps immerse you even more into the experience of a place. I don’t exactly backpack travel as much as I used to since I stay longer in cities now, but it’s still big part of my traveling. Here’s 20 things I’ve learned from my experiences backpacking around the world (with a camera):
